Distorted Voices Bio

There are many paths a musician takes to make their voice heard. It can be a short path or a long road but whichever way is traveled it’s sure to be a ride of a lifetime. Good music stands the test of time and this band's time is now. Distorted Voices is the result of guitarist Tom Martini’s tenacity and desire to find the road that no one else has traveled. It’s about making good music first and foremost and doing it his way. The inner passions and creativity, and talent that some people possess can change someone’s life forever.
Distorted Voices came about by accident, no plans, no predetermined rules just plain old fun. After spending 4 years as the guitarist for the very popular Pocono, Pa. band, Intellegent Life, Tom wanted more out of music and more out of life so he separated from the very band he helped create to pursue having fun. Tired of the music scene and direction that was being force fed into the media, Tom decided to take a step back and breathe. Armed with a few new riffs he contacted a local studio and embarked on a summer of writing and recording. Tom had no idea where this would take him and he didn’t care either as long as the end result was true representation of who he was. Together with producer Dan Malsch, owner of Soundmine Studios in Pa. they crafted two instrumentals that would unknowingly change Tom’s life forever. Once they were completed Tom started letting people listen to it by posting the songs online at garageband.com and was excited to show people this new project. The reviews poured in and a worldwide audience gave rave reviews of what they had heard.

The name came about after thinking about what had been created, a band without vocals and a guitarist trying to get his inner voice out. Distorted Voices was born. From that point on an identity and sound had merged to form a very strong tone for what was to follow. Even though a following was supposed to be earned by paying dues in local clubs, Tom wanted to try something different by posting his music on the internet so a whole world could be exposed to the band creativity and sound not just the local crowd that followed one or two popular bands. Posting music on the net was done on popular sites such as My Space, Garageband, and Facebook. Equipment companies like Morley, Dunlop, Zoom, Samson, Ernie Ball, Hartke and others had found the music and offered Tom equipment endorsements and a spot on their artist lists. Some new relationships had been formed when Tom was introduced to Larry Hartke of Hartke Amps after doing a session of guitar tracks for a NJ hip hop producer who offered tom his new line of guitar amps. Zoom Japan invited Tom to become the first American musician on their Japanese based website to be listed in their artist page. In January 2007 Guitar Player Magazine editor Michael Molenda included his profile and gave a great review of his music in their My Space Hourdes section and from there Distorted Voices was now out and seemed to recognized for what was being created. NFL Europa contacted Tom about using his song Visions for internet podcasts and even used it for the 2007 Superbowl broadcast in Germany that attracted new fans and friends. Another very important part of this was advice offered by 1950’s singer, JT Carter of the Crests known for hits as 16 Candles and Step By Step. JT has offered great advice and a strong friendship to Tom by saying “always stay true to yourself first no matter what other think you should be that’s how you make it a long fulfilling life” words that hit home and stays with Tom everyday and coming from a 50’s legend that’s done it all, that means everything to Tom.

Tom now realized it was time for new songs and decided to bring in a local Pa. vocalist named Darin Boby to put a new stamp on another new direction that Distorted Voices was going to embark on, the voices part. Not wanting to sound like the style on the market, Tom brought in a different type of vocalist in Darin to give people something fresh to hear in a band sound that has been missing for some time or just not yet found. Darin is pro trained and has a range that was to define the sound from this point on. Two songs were written by Tom and Darin. Falling and Reason to Leave are products of struggles with life and relationships but in a different way, from the inner workings of emotion that people are afraid to express. With the new songs, again attention started finding Distorted Voices but this time in the form of listeners and fans. To date, My Space registers 20,000 legitimate page views and over 13,000 song plays. A new site that has emerged on the net called Reverbnation that takes these stats and puts them into perspective and ranks bands from all over the world based on many elements gives an accurate look into how the world is absorbing the band. Starting at # 735( last place) in the NY, NJ, and Pa. markets, the band has risen into the #2 and above 1200 globally out of 880,000 bands and is climbing, jumping to their current positions in only 60 days on the site. The band is just happy that they were able to create something that is true to what they are about. The next logical step is to actually get out and play for people live so o other elements were needed and brought together to form the live band. Darin Boby- the singer on Falling and Reason To Leave has a stage persona about him that no other singer has. His energy level, voice, and range is like no one in rock today. Bassist Drew Mollica comes to the band from a strong background of studio and powerful live playing. The band is currently looking for their drummer!

This band and the things that have happened along the way to bring it to this point have been put on this earth for some purpose and everything has fallen into place to find each other to now bring YOU here at this point of time to be able to read and hopefully understand this and now allows you to become a part of it all. Amazing what having fun in life can do.
